Manvel City Council ends contract with Flock Safety

On Sept. 8, Manvel City Council voted unanimously to cancel its four-year contract with Flock Safety and removed funding for the contract in the fiscal 2026-27 budget. All 16 of the city’s Flock cameras were covered within 48 hours, and the police department shut off external agency access to the camera feed. Mayor Dan Davis said, “It’s time to deflock Manvel.” Council members and residents voiced privacy concerns and distrust of private surveillance networks.
