Police officer arrested after using Flock to track ex-girlfriend

Kentucky police officer Asad Zahir was arrested after using Flock Safety’s license-plate reader system to track his ex-girlfriend over 2,000 times. Flock’s new AI auditing tool flagged the activity, leading to his arrest on charges of official misconduct and unlawful access to a computer. Zahir was suspended without pay. Police Chief Andre Bottoms announced a full review of the department’s Flock procedures, including access and oversight. The case highlights ongoing concerns about misuse of automated license-plate readers by law enforcement.
