Johnstown agrees to release police bodycam and dashcam footage in Tribune-Democrat lawsuit

The Tribune-Democrat sued the city of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, for access to police body camera and dashboard camera videos. The city had denied a request by reporter Dave Sutor, made three weeks after the shooting, citing the general Right-to-Know Law provision for criminal investigations. On April 20, 2026, during a settlement discussion in court, the city agreed to release the recordings. The city turned over more than 20 hours of footage, which it reported does “not display identifiably inappropriate action by law enforcement personnel” in the aftermath of the June 15, 2025 shooting.
