Oshkosh Common Council rescinds Flock contract after misrepresentation

On April 22, 2026, the Oshkosh Common Council voted 7-0 to rescind its approval of a Flock Safety camera contract, less than 24 hours after approving it. Police Chief Dean Smith said Flock misrepresented that its system does not create heat maps of vehicle movement, which he visually confirmed it does. The council cited ‘additional information’ inconsistent with Flock’s statements and rejected the agreement. The renewal was for 25 cameras at $163,500 over two years. Several council members apologized for their earlier votes.
