Massachusetts State Police Ordered to Disclose ALPR Records

In September 2026, a Suffolk Superior Court judge ruled that the Massachusetts State Police must disclose records related to its use of automatic license plate readers (ALPRs), including camera locations and audit records. The ruling came in a case filed in November 2023. The decision requires the state police to release information about its ALPR operations. This is a result of ongoing litigation concerning surveillance technology used by law enforcement.
