Lufkin police officer indicted for alleged misuse of Flock license plate reader
Zachary Anthony Klein, 32, an officer with the Lufkin Police Department, was indicted on charges of tampering with governmental records, abuse of official capacity, and misuse of official information. The charges stem from an investigation by the Texas Rangers into his use of the Flock license plate reader system. An audit found that Klein searched an ex-girlfriend’s license plate more than 10,000 times between June 2024 and December 2025. The searches were inconsistent with criminal investigations, according to an arrest affidavit. Klein was booked into the Angelina County Jail on Aug. 20, with bond set at $700,000. The Lufkin Police Department suspended use of Flock cameras while the investigation continues.
