Narragansett Council Cancels Flock Safety Camera Contract
The Narragansett Town Council voted 5-0 on August 3, 2026, to cancel the town’s Flock Safety license-plate camera contract effective immediately. The town solicitor had not completed a review of the cancellation penalty at the time of the vote; Council President Alexander Menzies estimated the town may lose roughly $12,600 for the final contract year, to be paid from forfeiture funds. The three remaining cameras on Boston Road, Point Judith Road, Woodruff Avenue, and near the Dillon Rotary are to be removed from service. The police chief had asked the council to delay the vote, and a civil liberties group urged removal.
