Columbia Heights Council unanimously ends Flock contract

On June 8, 2026, the Columbia Heights City Council voted unanimously to terminate its contract with Flock Safety. The city will pay out the final year’s $49,000 without receiving service. The contract, signed in May 2024, covered seven fixed cameras and five flex cameras. The city cited privacy concerns and the possibility that automated license plate reader data could be accessed by immigration enforcement or other outside groups. The cameras have been removed or covered with bags.
