Hillsborough, N.C., Cancels Flock Safety Camera Contract
On October 27, 2025, the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to cancel a two-year, $81,500 contract with Flock Safety for 10 surveillance cameras. The board cited privacy concerns after discovering fine-print provisions allowing Flock to share collected data with third parties under a ‘good faith belief’ that it is necessary. The cameras had been installed the previous month. Commissioner Matt Hughes said the contract ‘allows Flock to override our judgment for theirs.’
